Building a Presence in Tequila Market

Furthermore, IWSR has noted that tequila volumes are expected to grow at 60% CAGR from 2020 to 2025, and at 13% CAGR until 2030, thus becoming the fastest growing tequila market globally.
With a price point of Rs. 4,200 – Rs. 5,500 for a 750 ml bottle of Bodega Suprema No. 5 (depending on the type), the tequila is considered high-end, yet available for a consumer in Maharashtra. All varieties, such as Blanco, Reposado and Anejo, are made from 100% Blue Weber Agave sourced from Jalisco’s Highlands.
Strategic Support from Tilaknagar
Apart from the investment amount, Tilaknagar Industries will offer strategic support to Black Tiger Distilleries in the areas of Distribution, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance & regulatory. The company intends to use its pan-India brand-building and scaling experience for premium spirits brands to help in the tequila business. The partnership will aim to generate greater access to authentic 100% Blue Weber Agave tequila to Indian consumers and build the category in India.
What Comes Next
Bodega Suprema No.5 will be under investor observation as it is rolled out and how it performs in India, while the second investment tranche of Tilaknagar Industries is expected to show developments. The success of the investment will depend on the company’s ability to create demand for the new tequila portfolio and utilizing its distribution network.
