Company Overview:
Juniper Green Energy is a renewable energy company focused on developing, constructing, owning, and operating utility-scale renewable power projects in India. Its portfolio includes solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects, supported by long-term power purchase agreements.
The company is also expanding into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to improve power management and support round-the-clock renewable energy supply. Juniper has a growing project pipeline across multiple states, with a focus on building large-scale clean energy capacity.
Capacity Expansion:
Juniper Green Energy is targeting the commissioning of around 2 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY27. The company had already commissioned more than 760 MW between April and August 2026, including 458 MW of solar and 143 MW of wind capacity during Q1. It plans to commission another 250-300 MW in the next quarter.
The company has indicated that key requirements such as land, connectivity, and financing for its FY27 pipeline are largely in place. This provides better visibility on project execution. By the end of FY27, commissioned capacity is expected to reach around 4 GW, implying nearly 2 GW of additional capacity from the current base.
Juniper’s overall renewable portfolio has grown to around 11.2 GW, with more than 6.2 GW operational or supported by signed PPAs. It also has over 4.5 GW of surplus connectivity, over 14,000 acres of land, and more than 200 identified wind locations, supporting future expansion.
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Expansion:
Juniper Green Energy is rapidly expanding its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity as part of its renewable energy strategy. The company currently has around 500 MWh of installed BESS capacity, including approximately 400 MWh commissioned during Q1. It is targeting around 2 GWh by March 2027 and 4.5 GWh by June 2027.
The company has already placed orders for around 4 GWh of additional BESS capacity and has contracted the full 4.5 GWh targeted for June 2027. The storage systems are mainly being integrated with renewable projects and FDRE contracts rather than developed as standalone projects. Management expects new integrated projects to generate high-teen returns at the overall project level.
EBITDA Guidance:
Juniper Green Energy Limited expects strong EBITDA growth as its renewable capacity expands. For FY27, management is targeting around 4 GW of commissioned capacity, with a corresponding run-rate EBITDA of approximately Rs. 2,700-2,750 crore. By FY28, commissioned capacity is expected to reach around 6 GW, supporting run-rate EBITDA of nearly Rs. 4,500 crore.
Operating EBITDA margins are expected to remain strong at around 90-91 percent, supported by long-term power purchase agreements with fixed tariffs for up to 25 years. This contracted revenue model provides greater earnings visibility as the company continues to expand its renewable and storage portfolio.
Capex & Funding:
Juniper Green Energy has incurred cumulative capex of around Rs. 16,000 crore as of June 30, 2026. The company expects this to increase to approximately Rs. 22,000 crore by March 2027, supporting capacity additions and ongoing projects.
The planned spending covers around 3.9 GW of capacity expected to be commissioned by March 2027, along with construction work in progress for projects scheduled for later commissioning. Total capex is expected to reach around Rs. 32,000 crore to support completion of nearly 6 GW of capacity.
The Rs. 1,800 crore IPO has strengthened the company’s balance sheet, with net worth increasing to around Rs. 5,200 crore from Rs. 3,463 crore before the IPO. The company’s Rs. 6,000 crore equity requirement is fully secured through IPO proceeds, existing equity, internal cash flows, and project debt.
Can FY27 Capex Drive Higher Earnings for Juniper Green Energy?
Juniper Green Energy is significantly increasing its investment to accelerate renewable capacity expansion. With a strong project pipeline and several projects already under execution, the company is focused on scaling its operating portfolio. This expansion is expected to strengthen its revenue base as new renewable projects become operational and contribute to generation.
The company is also increasing its focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), which are being integrated into its renewable projects. Falling battery costs and rising demand for firm and dispatchable renewable power are supporting the company’s strategy. The combination of renewable capacity and BESS is expected to create additional opportunities and improve the overall project economics.
Management remains confident about its medium-term growth plans, supported by project visibility, available connectivity and a stronger balance sheet following the IPO. As more projects are commissioned, the higher operating capacity is expected to support growth in EBITDA and cash flows.
