The share of the company, which is an automotive technology company engaged in designing, developing, manufacturing, and supplying engineered powertrain solutions to automotive OEMs, gained focus after several factors came into play.

With a market capitalization of Rs 5,346 crore, Hero Motors Ltd’s share on Thursday made a day high of Rs 118.21 per share, up by 20 percent, hitting the upper circuit in the day’s trade from its previous close of Rs 98.51 per share. The stock of the company gave a return of 46.24 percent from its listing day low of Rs 80.50 per share.

Factors behind the Post-Listing Rally

Large block deal: Hero Motors saw a block deal involving 2.4 crore shares, or 5.3 percent of equity, worth around Rs 281 crore at Rs 117 per share. The large transaction may have drawn additional market attention to the stock and its shareholding activity.

Strong anchor support: The IPO’s anchor book saw participation from major investors including Societe Generale, ICICI Prudential AMC, 3P India Equity Fund, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and Edelweiss Life Insurance. Domestic mutual funds were allotted 2.91 crore shares across 16 schemes.

Rebound after discounted listing: Hero Motors listed at around 2 percent below its IPO price of Rs 84, but quickly reversed the initial weakness. The recovery from the discounted listing level has contributed to the sharp post-listing gain in the stock.

Strong IPO demand: The Rs 1,000 crore IPO was subscribed 6.66 times, with strong participation from non-institutional investors and retail investors. The healthy subscription levels highlighted demand for the issue and may have supported buying interest after listing.’

Global brands and EV exposure: Hero Motors supplies powertrain and engineering solutions to global automotive companies including BMW, Formula Motorsport Ltd, Ducati Motor Holding S.P.A., and Harley-Davidson. The company also has exposure to both conventional and electric powertrain solutions, giving investors exposure to the growing EV ecosystem.

Hero Motors’ EV-related revenue increased to 23 percent of FY26 revenue from 12 percent in FY24, while Powertrain Solutions contributed 53.7 percent of FY26 revenue. The growing contribution from EV and powertrain products may have supported investor interest after listing.

Financial Highlights: For FY26, the company reported total income of Rs 1,216.74 crore, up 9.5 percent YoY from Rs 1,111.23 crore in FY25. EBITDA increased 29.6 percent YoY to Rs 147.78 crore from Rs 114 crore, while profit after tax rose 25.5 percent YoY to Rs 41.17 crore from Rs 32.80 crore.
