Every insurer has to handle customer complaints, appeals and grievances, and the rules around how quickly they respond are strict. Many still do this through email chains and legacy systems that are hard to audit. Software that tracks each case from the first complaint to the final resolution is becoming a basic need instead of a nice-to-have.

What’s the News?
Newgen Software Technologies, a provider of low-code digital automation platform, announced that its US-based subsidiary, Newgen Software Inc, has signed an agreement with a health insurance company in the United States. The contract is valued at US$ 5,475,020, equivalent to Rs 52.55 crore at the rate of Rs 95.98 to a dollar, the company said. The customer’s name has been withheld for confidentiality. Under the deal, Newgen will supply, install and implement its NewgenONE Complaints, Appeals and Grievances (CAG) solution on its own hosted cloud. Financial & Business Analysis
Looking at the quarterly results of Newgen Software Technologies Ltd., the company’s consolidated revenue increased by 25.73 percent YoY, from Rs. 350.04 crore in Q1 FY26 to Rs. 392.95 crore in Q1 FY27, and increased by 15.16 percent QoQ from Rs. 457.01 crore in Q4 FY26.
In Q1 FY27 Newgen Software Technologies Ltd.’s consolidated net profit increased by 118.88 percent YoY, reaching Rs. 62.82 crore compared to Rs. 49.72 crore during the same period last year. As compared to Q4 FY26, the net profit has increased by 30.26 percent, from Rs. 106.29 crore. The basic earnings per share stood at Rs. 4.44 as against Rs. 3.55 recorded in the same quarter in the previous year, FY2026.
Newgen’s revenue comes from a mix of recurring and project-based income. Annuity streams such as maintenance, support, SaaS and subscription licences make up roughly 71% of the business, and SaaS is the fastest-growing part of that. Geographically, EMEA contributes about 32% of revenue, India 27%, the Americas 25% and the rest of APAC 17%. This order fits the pattern closely, since it combines an upfront implementation with several years of cloud hosting and support.
I could not find a formal order book figure disclosed by Newgen, so the better yardstick here is how much of the business repeats. The Americas has been the fastest-growing region, and a health insurance customer strengthens that position further. Implementation revenue was weak last quarter because of delayed project starts, and only 10 new customers were added against the usual 12 to 13. A fresh multi-year win with a large implementation component helps on both counts. It also adds to the recurring base that carries the business through slower quarters.
Industry Context
The market for this type of software is growing rapidly. One estimate puts the global intelligent process automation market at US18.5 billion in 2026, growing to US44.7 billion by 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 22.6%. Digital process automation is projected to increase from US$17.5 billion in 2024 to US$33.2 billion by 2030. Forecasts from different research houses vary but all are pointing north with banking, insurance and healthcare being cited as key adopters.
Insurers are a natural fit because they deal with high volumes of regulated, paperwork-heavy processes. Complaints and appeals are a good example, as they have to be logged, tracked and answered within fixed timelines. Companies that offer a ready-made cloud product for it can win multi-year contracts and then expand into other workflows for the same customer. That is the opening Newgen is going after in the US.
